Let’s talk about narcisissm…

Narcissism is a personality disorder characterized by a grandiose sense of self-importance, a preoccupation with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love, a belief in one’s own special talents or uniqueness, and a lack of empathy for others. Narcissists typically have an inflated sense of self-worth and believe they are superior to others. They may feel entitled to special treatment, exploit others for their own gain, and lack remorse for their actions.

The term “narcissism” comes from Greek mythology, where Narcissus was a handsome young man who fell in love with his own reflection in a pool of water and eventually died of thirst and starvation as a result of his obsession with himself. In psychology, the term refers to a personality disorder that can have serious consequences for individuals and their relationships.

There are two main types of narcissism: grandiose narcissism and vulnerable narcissism. Grandiose narcissists tend to be self-assured and confident, with an inflated sense of their own importance. They may be charismatic and outgoing, but they also tend to be arrogant and dismissive of others. Vulnerable narcissists, on the other hand, tend to be more sensitive and insecure. They may have a need for constant validation and attention and may feel easily hurt or slighted.
